Prime Minister Barre praises Jubbaland troops for joining federal forces in Raskamboni

    Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre on Monday welcomed the integration of Jubbaland forces into the Somali National Army (SNA) in the Raskamboni area of Lower Juba. 

    The federal government recently deployed more than 1,000 troops to secure areas vacated by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and to enhance counter-insurgency operations against al-Shabab. Prime Minister Hamse described the deployment as critical to preventing militant control in the strategically vital region. 

    "The federal government's deployment to Raskamboni responds to the Badhaadhe district's request after Jubbaland declined to provide forces," Hamse said. "I commend the Jubbaland troops who avoided conflict and unified with their federal counterparts. Their bravery will be recognized and rewarded." 

    The move comes amid heightened political tensions between the federal government and Jubbaland's administration, which has opposed federal troop deployments in the region. Hamse accused Jubbaland leaders of stoking conflict, further exacerbating the already strained relationship between Mogadishu and Kismayo.
