Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre on Monday welcomed the integration of Jubbaland forces into the Somali National Army (SNA) in the Raskamboni area of Lower Juba. The federal government recently deployed more than 1,000 troops to secure areas vacated by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and to enhance counter-insurgency operations against al-Shabab. Prime Minister Hamse described the deployment as critical to preventing militant control in the strategically vital region.
