Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Council of Ministers has approved the appointment of Dr. Abdisalam Abdirahman Mohamed as the Director General of the Somali National Bureau of Statistics during its weekly meeting in Mogadishu on Thursday.
The Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development presented the nomination to the Cabinet to strengthen the country's statistical and analytical capabilities.
Minister of Planning Mahmoud Abdirahman Beenbeene expressed gratitude for the Cabinet's approval, emphasizing the critical role of the Bureau in national planning and development.
"I thank the Cabinet for approving Dr. Abdisalam Abdirahman Mohamed's appointment as Director General of the National Bureau of Statistics. I pray for his success in fulfilling his responsibilities and enhancing the Bureau's capacity to support Somalia's development goals," said Minister Beenbeene.
Dr. Abdisalam has previously served as the economic advisor to the President of Somalia and the Ministry of Finance. His appointment is expected to advance the government's efforts in improving data collection and national planning.
