MOGADISHU (HOL) - A 24-year-old man suspected to have been involved in the rape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in Mogadishu was Tuesday night arrested in Adado town.
Deputy Police Commissioner Zakia Hussein said in a tweet Wednesday morning the suspect identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Hussein was arrested following cooperation from members of the public.Zakia said the suspect was born in the capital Mogadishu and had fled the city following the incident which sparked outrage leading to torching the house of one of the suspects in Mogadishu’s Waberi district.
Police had earlier arrested 11 other suspects bringing to 12 the number of those to be charged with the heinous act which has been widely condemned locally and internationally.
The victim, Hamdi Mohamed was allegedly raped by six men in Waberi district on Friday and thrown off a high rise building according to witnesses.
