Min Omar resigns from new cabinet portfolio

Tuesday April 13, 2021

Mogadishu (HOL) - Mohamed Abdullahi Salat Omaar, a cabinet minister recently appointed to the lead Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, has resigned from his position on Monday, citing personal reasons.

"I am honoured that yesterday, April 11, 2021, I was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. This important department needs a Minister to accelerate the extensive work of the office. While I love working for my country, it is not possible for me at this time to do the important work that has been assigned to me. I, therefore, apologize for being unable to take on this important responsibility. Due to family and personal circumstances, I am unable to devote the energy and time required for this undertaking." he said as he posted on his Facebook page.

He added: "This decision is not a political one but a personal one. I have always been on the side of President Farmajo (N&N)."

On Sunday, the prime minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, swapped the Ministers of Transport and Civil Aviation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
