Parliamentary secretary rubbishes claims that PM will be sacked

Wednesday April 28, 2021

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's parliament has rejected claims that it intends to table a motion to sack Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, according to the Secretary-General of the Somali Parliament.

Abdikarim Haji Abdi Buuh released a statement on Wednesday that denied the allegations outright.

"False rumours have been circulating in the city that the parliament intends to fire PM Roble; this is untrue."

He added that Somali's must work together to work through this political crisis.

"In this difficult moment, the people and  government must work together to maintain the stability and development of their Somalia."

The Secretary-General said that President Farmajo would appear before parliament on Saturday to seek ratification - once again - of the September 17 agreement.

Buuh's comments come after Senator Abdi Hassan Awale Qeybdid told VOA Somali Service that he believed the parliament was plotting to dismiss PM Roble and warned it such a decision would have consequences.
