The first of three men sentenced for conspiring with ISIS had been sentenced to 78 months in prison.

22-year-old Muse Muse of Lansing was sentenced to federal prison time for conspiring to provide materials to ISIS.

After his prison time, he will also have 10 years of supervised release.

Muse was arrested in January of 2019 at Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids.

He was trying to travel to Somalia to join ISIS.

Court documents say Muse wired funds to a believed ISIS member for the flight.

He, his brother, and his cousin also pledged their allegiance to the terrorist group on video and submitted them to those they thought were part of the group.

His brother, Mohamud Muse, and cousin, Mohamed Haji were also arrested and are awaiting their sentencing.

The FBI was assisted by numerous agencies in the investigation, including Michigan State Police, Kent County Sheriff’s Department, and Michigan State University Police.
