Las Anod (HOL) Abdiqadir Ahmed Firdhiye, the leader of SSC-Khatumo, accused the United Kingdom of opposing the aspirations of his people and interfering in their internal affairs. He emphasized the need for non-interference from the UK and warned against escalating conflicts.
During a public address on Wednesday, Firdhiye warned the UK against escalating conflicts, demanding they refrain from meddling in SSC-Khatumo's internal affairs.
"We are cautioning the UK against further conflict. We demand non-interference in our internal affairs. The era has changed; we are no longer in the early 20th century. Our strength as Somalis is greater now than ever before," he said, referring to the Anglo-Somali War or the Dervish War, a series of military expeditions in northern Somalia.
Firdhiye called on the international community and Somali people to recognize the UK's return to its colonial tactics of divide and conquer. "We demand the UK ceases its century-long opposition to our people's desires.."
Firdhiye also appeals to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Barre of Somalia's federal government to clarify their position regarding the UK's alleged diplomatic interference, which he believes undermines the unity of the Somali people.
