Wednesday December 20, 2023

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Isaak Mohamud Mursal, attended the 31st ministerial session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Cairo on Tuesday.

The primary focus of the meeting revolved around the ongoing war in Gaza and its far-reaching social and economic implications.

The session also provided a platform for high-level discussions on strategies to address the challenges arising from the conflict, underscoring the imperative of regional collaboration and united efforts to achieve stability and prosperity.

One of the session's highlights was the launch of the "Arab Vision 2045," a comprehensive initiative prepared jointly by ESCWA and the League of Arab States. This visionary project aims to outline a roadmap for the Arab region's development and progress over the next two decades, according to the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of ESCWA, the ministerial segment saw active participation from Arab ministers and delegations representing member states. This collaborative effort reflects a commitment to fostering regional cooperation, addressing shared challenges, and achieving sustainable development and prosperity.
