MOGADISHU (HOL) — A young man brutally killed his younger brother in Beledweyne’s Howlwadaag neighbourhood following a dispute over a drilling site, authorities reported. The altercation escalated when Abdisalan Muse Sahan allegedly used a metal tool to fatally wound his brother, Sharmake Muse Sahan.
The murder is part of a broader pattern of violent events in the region. In unrelated incidents, a mentally ill mother in Mogadishu killed her two children, and police discovered the bodies of a man and his ex-wife in a bullet-ridden car. The motives behind these violent acts remain unclear.
Local law enforcement is investigating the circumstances surrounding these incidents as they work to maintain public safety in a time of increasing violence.
